Noise Level

Perceived Noise Levels and Standards for Home Appliances

Understanding the actual sensory perception of decibel (dB) values:

  • 20-30 dB: Whispering level, like the quiet environment of a library.
  • 40-50 dB: Normal indoor ambient sounds, such as the hum of a refrigerator (about 40-45 dB). This is **very quiet**.
  • 50-60 dB: Normal conversation. Noise **becomes noticeable**, but is still acceptable.
  • 60-70 dB: Loud conversation, noisy office sounds. It can become **annoying and disruptive**.

Although national standards stipulate that the working noise of a water purifier should be ≤65 dB, ≤65 dB is the industry’s “pass line,” not the “excellent line.” A purifier with noise reaching 65 dB will have a sound similar to a continuous loud conversation, which will be very disruptive in a quiet kitchen environment, leading to a poor user experience.

Based on human perception and high-end appliance experience requirements, we can classify noise control into several levels:

  • Excellent (≤50 dB)

    • Perceived Experience: This is the golden standard that high-end water purifiers should aim for. At this level, the machine’s operating noise is similar to the hum of a normal running refrigerator, blending seamlessly with background noise. Unless the user listens carefully, they will hardly notice it running, without disturbing daily life, conversations, or rest.
    • User Experience: Unnoticeable operation, reflecting the product's excellent craftsmanship and technology.
  • Good (50-55 dB)

    • Perceived Experience: The sound at this level is clearly audible but **not unpleasant**. It’s similar to the distant hum of a washing machine or soft conversation. Users will know it's working, but it won’t be bothersome.
    • User Experience: This is the typical level for many mid-to-high-end products on the market, providing an acceptable and good experience.
  • Pass (55-65 dB)

    • Perceived Experience: The sound is noticeable and may cause some disruption in quiet environments (e.g., at night). During water production, it might interrupt conversations in the kitchen or make users want to leave the area.
    • User Experience: Average experience, typically found in entry-level or older models.

Conclusion: An excellent water purifier should have its noise level consistently controlled at ≤55 dB, with the ideal goal being ≤50 dB.

Technological Means to Achieve Low Noise Operation

To achieve "excellent" low noise levels, a water purifier needs to be meticulously designed and constructed:

  1. Low-Noise Boost Pump (Core):

    1. The water pump is the main source of noise. High-end products choose silent pumps with ceramic bearings, vortex-style impellers, and DC brushless motors. These pumps are not only quieter but also more durable and energy-efficient.

  2. Effective Vibration Reduction Design:

    1. Vibration Mounts/Pads: The water pump is connected to the purifier’s casing using rubber or other vibration-damping materials, preventing vibrations from spreading through the entire unit and amplifying noise.
    2. Internal Structure Optimization: The water pathways are designed to keep pipes fixed, avoiding collisions and unwanted noise caused by water flow impact or vibrations inside the machine.

  3. Integrated Water Path Technology (Your Product Advantage):

    1. The “integrated water path” design in your product is itself a noise reduction feature. By replacing complex piping and joints with a single molded water path board, it greatly reduces water flow resistance, turbulence, and the whistling sound at connections, making water flow smoother and noise naturally lower.

  4. Solid, Heavy Casing with Soundproof Materials (Your Product Advantage):

    1. Full 304 Stainless Steel Metal Shell: A metal shell is thicker and more rigid than plastic, effectively blocking and absorbing noise generated by the internal pump, much like an “acoustic shield” for the noise source. This is a significant advantage that plastic casings cannot match.
    2. Some high-end models also use food-grade soundproof cotton inside cavities to further absorb noise.

  5. Pre-Charging Water Technology (For Pressure Tank Models):

    1. Pre-charging the RO membrane before starting water production helps avoid dry running of the pump and high loads during startup, reducing startup noise.

Purifighter controls operating noise to the ≤50 dB library-level quiet standard (far below the national ≤65 dB pass line) through three core technologies.

  • DC Silent Boost Pump: Uses high-end ceramic bearings and a DC brushless motor to suppress noise from the source.
  • Multi-Dimensional Vibration Reduction System: Precision-designed vibration pads and structures eliminate resonance noise.
  • Full Metal Sealed Silent Chamber: The 304 stainless steel metal body is not only durable and safe but also forms a natural high-efficiency soundproof barrier, isolating operational noise inside.

Residual Chlorine
The pore size of the RO membrane is extremely small (0.0001 microns), and the volume of residual chlorine molecules, as well as the disinfection by-products (such as THMs) generated by the reaction of residual chlorine with organic substances, is much larger than water molecules. Therefore, they ...
